The Meadow Institute
Tending transitions.
Deep change cannot be engineered. The mindset that manifested a problem cannot resolve it. Care, climate, technology, governance each carry their own path dependencies and persist when nudged. That is the work we tend, with funders, governments, and practitioners committed to the long, plural work of transition.
What we do
Three ways we tend transitions.
Strategy for transitions.
Finding the path before it can be funded or built.
Convening of the field.
Bringing builders into the room with the trust to act, and growing the field of practitioners, observers, and future participants around them.
Sensemaking and intervening.
Tracing the paths, stories, and perspectives that shape a program underway, and running the interventions it needs.
Our approach
We work with a set of tools, practices, and methods our members bring, drawn from five sources we have helped shape: the SI toolkit, persistence dynamics, warm data, Collaborative Innovation, and shared agendas. We use them together.
The meadow is alive with us all and the foundations are its fertilizer.
The network
The Meadow is rooted in the system innovation network and beyond it. Most members come from years to decades of shared practice; others bring related expertise from adjacent fields. We are a small network of senior practitioners working with funders, governments, and other practitioners across European transitions.
Members have worked across care, education, government, healthcare, mobility, policy, social welfare, sustainability, technology, and urban transitions.
